For most people replacing one or more missing teeth, yes. An implant is the only option that replaces the root, so it preserves jawbone and doesn't rely on neighbouring teeth. It costs more up front than a bridge or denture, and usually outlasts both.

What implants cost

In the UK, a single implant with its crown typically falls in the £2,000–£3,000 range, with multi-unit and full-arch work priced individually. Your fee depends on whether grafting is needed, the components used and the restoration on top. You'll always get a written plan before any treatment begins.

We work with Straumann, one of the most extensively documented implant systems in the world. That matters years later: components stay available and any dentist can identify and service the system.

Who isn't a good candidate

  • Active gum disease — this is treated first, always.
  • Heavy smoking, which measurably increases failure rates.
  • Uncontrolled diabetes or certain medications, which affect healing.
  • Insufficient bone volume — often solvable with grafting, assessed on a CT scan.

Dental implants: your questions on this topic

How long do dental implants last?

With good oral hygiene and regular reviews, implants routinely last decades. The crown on top may need replacing sooner than the implant itself.

Does getting an implant hurt?

Placement is done under local anaesthetic and most patients report less discomfort than an extraction. Mild soreness for a few days is normal.

Can I get an implant on the NHS?

Only in rare, clinically exceptional cases. In practice, implants are a private treatment.

Do I need a bone graft?

Only if there isn't enough bone volume. A scan at your assessment answers this before anything is planned.
