Common questions

The details, without the dental jargon.

Does root canal treatment hurt?

With proper numbing, most patients say it feels no worse than having a filling. The treatment relieves pain rather than causing it.

How many appointments will I need?

Usually one or two, depending on the tooth and the infection.

Should I just have the tooth out instead?

Sometimes extraction is right — but keeping your own tooth is usually better for your bite, bone and wallet long-term. We'll talk it through honestly.

Will I need a crown afterwards?

Often yes for back teeth, to protect the treated tooth from fracture. We'll advise based on your case.

How long does a root-treated tooth last?

Many last decades, especially when protected with a crown and reviewed regularly.

I'm in pain now — how quickly can I be seen?

Call us and we'll do everything we can to see you the same day.
